Two Hudson Valley Residents Shot, Police Seek Help
Local police are hoping for answers after two Hudson Valley residents were shot, in two separate cases.
Monticello police are searching for the gunslinger who shot a 28-year-old man. On Wednesday around 2:40 p.m., a 28-year-old man from Monticello was shot in his hand near 62 Park Avenue in the Village of Monticello.
The victim had already been driven from the scene of the shooting to a hospital in a private vehicle.
Monticello police are investigating the incident and are being assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney office, New York State Police and the Sullivan County Sheriff Office. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Monticello police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
On Saturday just before 3 p.m., officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to the area of 238 Church Street and found a 30-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident suffering from a single gunshot wound that hit both his legs.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent treatment for his wounds.
An investigation revealed that the victim was confronted by at least 2 people. During the confrontation, a struggle ensued over a handgun and the victim was shot during the struggle, police say.

In both cases, the victim’s injuries don’t appear to be life threatening, officials say.
