A Hudson Valley man is accused of injuring his family member with a car.

On Tuesday, New York State Police announced an arrest following an investigation into an accident involving an Audi and a person.

On Saturday around 2:07 a.m., New York State Police from the Highland barracks responded to the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn on State Route 9W in the town of Lloyd for a car striking a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, troopers interviewed the individual who was struck by the vehicle, later identified as 22-year-old Alan S. Hanson Jr, from the Town of Lloyd.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Hanson was in a verbal altercation with 34-year-old Matthew Hutton at or near the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn, police say.

During the argument, Hutton entered a 2010 Audi and intentionally struck Hanson with the vehicle pinning him against a 1999 Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn, according to New York State Police.

Hanson was treated by Mobile Life at the scene and transported to Mid-Hudson Regional with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., Hutton went to the Town of Lloyd Police Department to report his involvement in the altercation, officials say.

He was transported to the State Police barracks in Highland where he was arrested and charged with an aggravated family offense. Police did not disclose Hanson and Hutton's relationship but an aggravated family offense is only issued "when the defendant and the person against whom the offense was committed were members of the same family or household," according to the New York State Senate.
