9 Beloved Cats Mysteriously Vanish From Hudson Valley

At least nine beloved pets have vanished in the Hudson Valley recently.

On Sept. 4, Jasmine Harbinger Kane posted on Facebook saying her beloved cat, "Electra" went missing in Kingston. The pet went missing near Foxhall Street and Shufeldt Street. Kane is offering a $200 reward for anyone who finds her cat.

Kane said she contacted every animal shelter within 25 miles, adding she was able to activate Electra's microchip, but it doesn't have a GPS.

On Sept. 15, Kane said Electra and six other cats have gone missing in the Kingston area.

"This is not normal and is now quite concerning. If anyone has any information about any cats that are being stolen, please contact me or Eddie Alvarez in the Kingston Police Department. You can remain anonymous," Kane wrote.

We contacted Kingston police to confirm the investigation, but haven't heard back as of this writing.

On Sept. 17, Sarah Kirschenheiter said nine cats have gone missing in the Kingston area since August. Among the missing cats are "Tangelo" who was last seen on Sept 13, in the area of Johnston Avenue and Main Street in Kingston, "Norman" who went missing in West Kingston on Sept. 8 and "Optimus" who was last seen on Aug. 8 on Main Street in Kingston, according to Kirschenheiter's post.

Because of the high number of missing cats in the same area residents don't think a wild animal, like a coyote or fox, is taking the pets.

"Somebody is taking them," Kirschenheiter said.
