2 Teens On Bike During Snowstorm Injured After Being Hit By Car
Two teens from Poughkeepsie were injured after they were hit by a car while riding a bicycle in blizzard conditions.
On Monday around 7:30 p.m., the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Traffic Enforcement Unit began investigating an accident between a car and a bicycle during Winter Storm Ezekiel.
The accident happened on Vassar Road in front of the Dimpy’s Food Mart during what police describe as blizzard conditions. A red 2014 Subaru Legacy driven by a 34-year-old woman from Poughkeepsie hit a bicycle. A 15-year-old male from Poughkeepsie and a 16-year-old woman from Wappinger Falls were riding the bike at the time of the crash, police say.
The Poughkeepsie teen suffered minor injuries, police say. The Wappinger Falls teenager sustained what authorities describe as serious physical injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The Subaru driver didn't suffer any injuries, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
Parts of Vassar Road was closed until after midnight on Tuesday as police investigated. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Any potential witness is asked to call the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485- 3680.
