After the blizzard, will Hudson Valley residents be able to snow tube down an 800 foot hill?

An official from the Orange County Parks Department told Hudson Valley Post that the snow tubing park at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery, sadly, won’t be open this weekend.

Despite nearly two feet of snow, the snow tubing park was officially closed for the season in March.

“There’s a lot more to it, then there just being natural snow,” a spokesperson told Hudson Valley Post. “We create the lanes for the tubes and a couple of weeks ago all of that melted to the bottom of the hill. At this point all we have is (the snow that) fell.”

For the second straight year the park had to deal with unseasonably warm weather.

“Unfortunately, we were closed more weekends than open,” a spokesperson said.

The park does offer more than tubing, like an ice skating rink, sledding hill, and cross-country ski trails. And with that, we do have some good news!

The sledding hill will be open to the public this weekend. Visitors must provide their own equipment for these free activities which are available as conditions permit.
