An Ulster County man was arrested after police say he choked a victim to the point that the victim passed out.

Jones Jones IV, 45, of Esopus was charged with 2nd-degree strangulation, a felony, and criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor.

Late Friday night, members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Town of Esopus for a domestic dispute. Police say they determined that a domestic incident did take place.

As they investigated more, they allege that Jones placed his hand on the throat of victim causing loss of consciousness. The defendant was arrested and transported to the Esopus substation.

Jones was arraigned in the Town of Gardiner Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.
