Ulster County Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested
A man out on parole is accused of robbing a local bank.
On Tuesday around 1:40 p.m., police responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of America on Canal Street in the Village of Ellenville.
A white man wearing a black hooded Rawlings sweatshirt and a dark colored baseball hat entered the bank, passed a note and demanded money. The man fled after receiving an unknown amount of money.
On Wednesday, police detained three people following a parole warrant on Main Street in Grahamsville. Two more people were picked up by police on First Street in Kerhonkson. All five where taken to the Ellenville Police Department for questioning.
After the interviews, police recovered evidence from the bank robbery and identified a suspect who confessed to the robbery, police say.
Kip Banks Jr., 25, of Montgomery was charged with robbery and violation of parole, both felonies. He was remanded to Ulster County Jail on no bail.
