The City of Beacon and Kent announced weather delays for their 2017 Fourth of July fireworks shows scheduled for Saturday.

The National Weather Service placed Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Putnam counties under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9PM Saturday.

Beacon's announcement was made on the City of Beacon Recreation Department's Facebook page on Saturday, alerting residents that the fireworks would be moved to Sunday. The Town of Kent's website said its fireworks over Lake Carmel would take place Saturday, July 8 because of the inclement weather.

As of 4PM on Saturday, fireworks at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and in Middletown, Southeast and Woodbury remained on schedule.
