Parts of a popular Hudson Valley Road was closed Monday as police investigated reports of a man threatening others with a gun. You won’t believe what it turned out to be.

Monday afternoon City of Newburgh Police received a call from office workers located at 436 Robinson Avenue about workers hearing a man’s voice somewhere in the building who was threatening people with a gun.

Because the building is near the border both City of Newburgh Police and Town of Newburgh Police responded.

Police surrounded the building, evacuated nearby buildings, and blocked off traffic on Route 9W. City and Town S.W.A.T. teams searched the building and removed three uninvolved individuals, including the person who called 911. All were safely escorted from the building.

During their investigation of the building, authorities learned that the building houses a production company that producers voiceovers. One voiceover booth was playing recordings of a man who was threatening others with a gun.

Police say the production company left the building before they arrived. The names of people who left the recording playing are not being released.

Bizarre story, but safe to say, nice to learn that nobody was ever in danger.
