Your first thought when you saw this could have been, “There’s a Poland in New York state?” I thought the same thing and instantly got excited when I explored this topic. It’s something that I wasn't aware of before.

Where Is Poland, NY Actually Located?

Not only is there a Poland in New York state but there are two of them. Poland, NY is a town in Chautauqua County and there’s also a village in Herkimer County as well.

The Town of Poland is located in Kennedy, NY while the village of Poland can be found in Poland, NY.

I would think that when people who live in these areas go on vacation, they have some explaining to do. If someone asked where they live and they stated Poland, they would have to mention that it’s not in Europe. They would also have to specify whether it’s the town or village as well.

Similar to the Hudson Valley, there’s the Town of Wallkill and the Hamlet of Wallkill where residents need to explain the difference. If someone who lives in the Florida, NY area also mentioned their location, they would have to include that it’s not the state of Florida but a village within New York state.

I would love to visit Poland in Europe but until then, we can hop in the car and do a roadtrip to somewhere that has the same name in this state.

Leaving from the Poughkeepsie, NY area, the Town of Poland in Kennedy, NY would take us about 5 hours and 30 mins. If we also left from the same area and were heading to the village of Poland in Poland, NY, it would be around 2 hours and 41 mins.

If we’ve ever thought about visiting any of these two locations within the Hudson Valley, we now know our choice of two different Polands.
