A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he was found driving in the Hudson Valley with a loaded gun while illegally towing a trailer.

New York State Police in Dutchess County stopped a vehicle for allegedly speeding and illegally towing a trailer on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Milan.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Thomas F. Swartley of Green Lane, Pa., was found in possession of a loaded handgun without a New York State pistol permit, police say.

Swartley was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned at the Village of Rhinebeck court where he was released on his own recognizance.
