Authorities say that thousands of dollars in postage stamps were stolen by a Hudson Valley postal worker.

Antonio Pinheiro from Westtown in Orange County is accused of stealing 14,000 postage stamps while working the U.S. Post Office in Peekskill. The Westchester District Attorney says that Pinheiro stole the stamps while being employed as a postal worker in 2017 from July to October.

A joint investigation between the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the District Attorney's office found that Pinheiro allegedly took the stamps and sold them online. The value of the stolen postage totaled around $6,000.

Pinheiro was arrested on Tuesday and charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony. The postal worker was released on bail is scheduled to return to Peekskill City Court on January 10.

In October another Hudson Valley postal employee was accused of stealing mail and dumping it in the woods in Westchester. And in May an ex letter carrier in Yonkers was arrested and accused of stealing mail.
