Howe Caverns Launches New Child-Free Tour for Guests 13 and Up
Howe Caverns Opens New Child-Free Tour
Howe Caverns is one of the more popular tourist attractions in Upstate, New York.
They get thousands of visitors throughout the year from guests of all ages who explore the largest show cave in the northeastern U.S.
Everyone is welcome at Howe Caverns!
However, a recent post explains that there will be 1 special tour daily banning a certain age group.
Howe Caverns writes on social media "Starting Monday, 22 June, we are launching our brand-new No Kids Traditional Tour at 11’10a daily. This tour is for ages 13 and up ONLY. No exceptions."
Before guests could make their own assumptions as to why they are introducing a "No Kids Tour," Howe Caverns explained:
Why? Because young children have been ruining tours here since 1929, and after nearly a century of experience, and one too many conversations with disappointed first-time adult guests that began with, “The tour probably was great, but we couldn’t hear one bit of it,” we’ve decided to offer a quieter option.
When are The No Kids Tour at Howe Caverns?
As mentioned above, the No Kids Traditional Tour at Howe Caverns will be held daily.
The No Kids Tour will start on June 22nd, 2026 and will run daily at 11:10 am. Guests of this tour must be 13 years old or older "No exceptions."
Howe Caverns adds:
Just history, stories, and a tour where the loudest voice on your tour belongs to your guide.
Tickets are available now online through the Howe Caverns ticket website.
The tour itself consists of a 1.25 mile walk and a 0.25 mild boat ride, according to their website. Additionally, there are 139 steps throughout the tour.
Guests React to "No Kids" Tour at Howe Caverns
Making an announcement about banning children from a tour or location has the potential to create some drama.
With that being said, fans and guests of Howe Caverns seem to be taking the news rather well.
One comment reads:
I lovvvvvve this! Was so distracted by kids on our tour running around, almost going under a railing, slowing down the whole process, and little adult supervision.
Another states "As a K-1 teacher about to be on Summer Break.... thank y'all. I need a break from tiny voices."
What do you think? Is having a No Kids Tour option a good idea? What other locations should implement a No Kids option?
