A tractor-trailer carrying 30,000 pounds of milk overturned in the Hudson Valley.

On Friday around 3 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff's Office was sent to Route 82 in the Town of Ancram for an overturned 18-wheel milk tanker.

Deputies believe a 2013 tractor and milk tanker trailer, operated by 36-year-old Ronnie J. Hare of Poughkeepsie, lost control while heading south. The tractor-trailer went off the right shoulder, overturned, rolled over twice and came to rest on its side.

Hare suffered injuries to his neck, chest and abdomen, police say. He had to be extricated from the truck and airlifted by to Albany Medical Center. His condition wasn't released.

The tractor-trailer is registered to Staats Transporting Inc. from Milan. The tanker trailer had approximately 30,000 pounds of milk, which all spilled out onto the ground, according to police.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Route 82 was closed for many hours following the accident.
