Would You Live in This Former Hudson Valley Church?
A church, rectory and its sprawling property just hit the Hudson Valley market.
Bargain hunters looking for a unique property may be experiencing some divine intervention. A 3.5-acre property that includes a church, rectory and other structures is up for sale and is looking for just the right buyer.
It's not uncommon for people to purchase an old church to reuse as a new business or renovate it into a home. Unique properties such as former schools, firehouses and even post offices have all been transformed by buyers. Sometimes, it's the quirkiness of these original structures that attracts buyers and inspires them to create a living environment that is truly their own.
Hudson Valley Church Goes Up For Sale After Closure
According to a listing from Rand Commercial Real Estate, the former Assumption Church is finally for sale after being shuttered almost three years ago. The church closed in January of 2023 after falling into disrepair. Declining attendance led to the congregation merging with Holy Name of Mary Parish in Montgomery in 2015. After keeping Assumption running for several years, it was finally closed down.
The listing includes the church building, rectory, garage, social hall and 3.5 acres on Homestead Avenue. Although somewhat disrepaired, the structures can be adapted for reuse or completely redeveloped.
