Lower Hudson Valley Mother Dies In Dominican Republic
A 33-year-old mother from the Hudson Valley died after traveling to the Dominican Republic.
Alexandra Medina, 33, of Westchester died after undergoing plastic surgery in the Dominican Republic on July Fourth, The Daily Mail reports.
Medina traveled to Ureña Arias Clinic in Santo Domingo for liposuction. She leaves behind a 14-year-old son and her husband.
Medina traveled to the Dominican Republic last Wednesday and was scheduled to have a tummy tuck on Thursday. Medina was later pronounced dead after suffering respiratory failure, Noticias Sin reports.
Medina went to the Dominican Republic for her surgery after learning about Dr. Felix Almanzar on the internet. She is the third American to die since June after having surgery performed by Almanzar, according to The Daily Mail. A contact at Ureña Arias Clinic refused to comment on the deaths, The Daily Mail reports.
Medina's mother told The Daily Mail she begged Medina to not have the surgery after reading many bad reviews about the doctor.
