The 37th year of the Stewart's Holiday Match Program was one for the books!

Stewart's Holiday Match Program Helps Local NY Charities

For those unfamiliar with the Stewart's Holiday Match Program, every year Stewart's Shop's collects donations for local New York state-based charities starting right after Thanksgiving. Every donation they receive, they match. So if you stop by and drop off $1 they match it and make it $2, and so on until Christmas Day.

In a press release, Stewart's Shops shares that the holiday spirit was flowing in 2022-2023 and donations poured in:

Customers donated more than $1 million during the 37th year of the Holiday Match program. That means more than $2 million will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations that benefit children after factoring in the Stewart’s match.

The Claverack, New York Stewart's Shop location was recognized this year as they saw a 121% bump in donations this year compared to 2022. The press release goes on to add "Our generous customers donated more than $4,800 at the Claverack shop this holiday season."

Stewart's Accepting Holiday Match Applications

Now that the Holiday Match Program season is over, Stewart's Shops will distribute the donations across New York State to different 501c3 organizations benefiting children under the age of 18.

For organizations applying, Stewart's Shop notes the following while filling out the application:

  • We ask that you request what you need.  We will not deny your application if we cannot fulfill it entirely but rather give what we can
  • Please provide the previous year’s operational budget or a detailed program budget

One application will be accepted for each organization.
