A plane crash on Sunday in Greene County, NY has claimed the life of a pilot and one of the three dogs onboard.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, a small plane crashed in a remote section near Windham, New York at approximately 6:10 p.m. Sunday November 24th.

Plane Crash near Windham, New York

A small Cessna T210L that was reportedly flying a pet rescue mission from Maryland to Albany ended tragically when the plane went down near Windham High Peak in the Maplecrest and Big Hollow area outside of Windham according to Porcupine Soup.

First responders, along with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are on the scene investigating. At this time it's unclear exactly what happened as this is an active investigation, but according to a press release the pilot and one of the three dogs onboard were killed.

"Puppy Loving" Pilot Killed

The pilot who has been located at the scene has been identified as 49-year-old Seuk Kim, of Springfield, Virginia who was believed to be flying three dogs to the Albany, NY area. Authorities have said that one of the dogs was found deceased at the crash site, another alive but suffering from two broken legs and the third dog's location is unknown at this time.

The surviving dog is a Labrador mix puppy that was taken by Hyer Ground Rescue to the Capital District Veterinary Hospital to receive treatment for its injuries.

Pilot Remembered

As friends learned of Kim's passing many took to social media to offer condolences with one friend saying,

"It's one of the saddest days in Rescue, ever! Words cannot express my feelings...
Seuk Kim was an amazing person with the biggest heart and passion for saving lives. I can only imagine the hours he logged flying dogs to a better place. Suek, you will always be our angel forever flying high."

 

Another said,

"Bless this ‘Puppy Loving Pilot’ Kevin Manson, Supporter of the Georgia Rural Shelters and Rescues on Facebook November 25, 2024."

 

Authorities said the investigation into the crash is ongoing and when more information is available we will update this article.
