Human Skeletal Remains Found in Upstate New York City

The skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area by a surveying crew in Hudson, New York.

A Colombia County, NY survey crew that was working along Mill Street in the City of Hudson, NY reportedly uncovered human skeletal remains while they were working near a wooded area on Monday.

According to the Hudson Police Department (HPD), the survey crew discovered the remains on Monday, December 9th at approximately 11:18 a.m. and quickly contacted the New York State Police (NYSP) to report what they found.

The call was then transferred to HPD who promptly dispatched officers to a section of Mill Street to investigate. Upon arrival, officers and detectives were able to confirm that the remains were that of a human and that they are currently investigating alongside the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Identification Unit to identify the remains.

Investigation Ongoing

As of Wednesday, Hudson Police have confirmed that the human skeletal remains found were the remains of an adult according to WTEN. Hudson Police Chief Mishanda Franklin made the announcement but said that the gender of the remains has yet to be confirmed and that her department is hoping to receive DNA lab results before Christmas. State officials didn't provide a timeline for the results.

Body Found in Hyde Park, New York

The human skeletal remains discovery was the second discovery of its kind in the last few days in the Hudson Valley region. Back on Friday, December 6t,h we learned that a hiker discovered a human body at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY.

The body, later identified as a woman was of a Caucasian female with brown eyes, weighing 112 pounds, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with gray hair.
