
Police Recover Body From River in Upstate New York
Police have announced the recovery of a man's body that was floating in a river in Upstate New York.
The Schenectady Police Department (SPD) has confirmed that officers have recovered the body of a deceased male in the Mohawk River in Schenectady, New York.
Body Floating in Upstate New York River
According to a recent post on the Schenectady Police Department's Facebook page, it all started on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., when they received a 911 call reporting a possible body floating in the Mohawk River.
The caller reported seeing what they thought was a body in the river near the Rivers Casino & Resort located at 1 Rush St, in Schenectady, NY.
Body Recovered from Mohawk River
Officers quickly responded to the scene and, upon arrival, confirmed that there was a body in the river. SPD officers, the New York State Police, Scotia Fire Department, and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol quickly began a recovery mission and soon after recovered the body of a deceased male.

First responders did not release the identity of the male or what may have led to it being in the river, but did say that their investigation is ongoing and will release additional information when it becomes available.
