New Store Opening in Hyde Park has Residents Angry
A new store that appears to be opening soon at a popular Hyde Park, New York plaza has some residents asking why.
If you ever drive on Route 9 through "Historic" Hyde Park, NY you might have noticed recently that a new company logo has appeared on the sign that displays the stores currently in the Albany Post Road Plaza. The sign currently has a few businesses displayed on it including McDonalds, the Children's Medical Group, and a new addition that has some Hyde Park residents wondering if the town needs another one of these types of stores.
Is AutoZone Coming to Hyde Park, New York?
If the sign pictured above is any indication of what's coming to Hyde Park, yes one of the most popular auto parts stores in the country will be opening soon. It's unclear when the store will open but according to the Town of Hyde Park Planning Board, signage for the outside of the store was approved back in December.
The new store will be located at 4246 Route 9 Hyde Park, NY, and appears to be taking the storefront adjacent to the CVS Pharmacy. When it opens it will be AutoZone's 217th store in New York. Currently, AutoZone has 15+ stores scattered across the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie, Highland, Newburgh, Wappingers Falls, Kingston, New Windsor, and more.
Hyde Park Residents Unsure About Need for New Store
Once news began to spread regarding the store opening soon many residents took to social media to share their thoughts. Many argued that there is no need for another store like this "Just what we need, another Auto parts store" said one resident. Another shared "Omg wow just what we need another corporate parts store and low-paying jobs."
