The investigation continues into a viral video which alleges a Hudson Valley cop slammed an innocent teen girl to the ground.

On Monday around 4 p.m., the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to the intersection of the eastbound arterial highway and Hammersley Avenue for multiple calls for a fight involving a large group of students walking home from school.

A 17-second video posted to social media of police responding to the scene shows an officer yanking and slamming a young girl to the ground.

Facebook user Mega Mel Rich posted the video to Facebook and says it was her 15-year-old daughter who was slammed to the ground.

According to City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison's office, it appears that during an altercation between two female students, two people were arrested for interfering with the police effort to break-up the fight. The fight is believed to be a continuation of an earlier altercation involving the same two students.

“The review of the incident is progressing in a timely but deliberate manner, and I am receiving frequent updates from Police Chief Pape and our City Administrator. Additional video, as well as written witness statements and facts uncovered from a number of eyewitnesses have advanced our understanding of the situation. At this time, we are waiting for more information in this developing investigation, so that we may make a fair and reasonable judgment as to what actually occurred," City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Robert Rolison said in a statement.

Rich says her daughter was simply walking home from school. According Rich police allege her daughter was resisting arrest. Rich also shared photos of her daughter's injuries to Facebook.
