On a night when President Trump was making his national address, Dutchess County Republicans packed into the Poughkeepsie Grand to choose their nominees for Dutchess County Comptroller and NYS Supreme Court Justice.

Incumbent Dutchess County Comptroller Jim Coughlan received the nomination for his position again. The position is the chief accounting officer for the county and is responsible for auditing all county departments. The term is four years.

In the race for NYS Supreme Court Justice for the 9th Judicial District, Linda Michetti Murray defeated Angela DiBiasi for the nomination. The district covers five counties, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester. The term is 14 years.

Murray, from Rhinebeck, is currently serving as the Associate Court Attorney to Poughkeepsie City Court Justices Frank Mora and Thomas O'Neill.

Campaign season has once again begun.
