Fishkill Man Found With Assault Rifle, 17 Illegal Weapons, Police
Following a call regarding a domestic incident, police allege a Fishkill man possessed an assault rifle and 17 “high capacity” loaded magazines in his home.

On Friday, Town of Fishkill police arrested 29-year-old David R. Messina of Crosby Court Fishkill while serving a Temporary Order of Protection on a home on Crosby Court.

The investigation stemmed from a domestic incident earlier in the week and ultimately a Temporary Order of Protection was requested and issued by Dutchess County Family Court, officials say.

Messina was ordered to vacate the residence and surrender firearms. A further investigation revealed Messina allegedly possessed an assault rifle as well as 17 “high capacity” loaded magazines.

In addition, he was in possession of several edged weapons, ballistic vests and helmets, and a large amount of ammunition, police say. Photos of Messina's alleged weapons are below:
Messina was charged with criminal possession of an assault rifle and 17 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all class D felonies.
Messina was arraigned in the Village of Wappingers Falls Justice Court. He was released to the Dutchess County Department of Probation for a future date in Town of Fishkill Court.
The Town of Fishkill Detective Division assisted Patrol with the investigation and subsequent arrest. Job well done by all officers involved!
