A Dutchess County man is accused of making up a story to police that two of his classic cars were stolen.

On Sept. 3, 67-year-old Glenn E. Paladini of the Town of Washington allegedly reported that a 1971 Pontiac GTO and a 1956 Pontiac Starfire were stolen from his property.

After a nearly two month investigation authorities determined that Paladini fabricated the entire incident and gave a false written deposition to police, officials say.

On Wednesday, Paladini was charged with false reporting of an incident and filing a false written statement, both misdemeanors.

He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Washington Court on Nov. 22.
