A Dutchess County man was charged with a felony DWI after he was allegedly found intoxicated while driving on State Route 22.

On Tuesday New York State Police from Dover Plains arrested 53-year-old William I. Simmons Jr., of Amenia, driving while intoxicated, a class E felony.

Simmons was stopped by police on State Route 22 following a vehicle and traffic complaint called in to Troop K Headquarters. Police say an investigation revealed that Simmons was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop.

Simmons was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI related conviction from February of 2015.

Simmons was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Amenia Court on March 22, 2016.
