Dutchess County Man Arrested Following Sexual Assault Investigation

A Dutchess County man was sent to jail following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.

On Tuesday around 5:30 a.m., a 21-year-old female reported to authorities that she was sexually assaulted by a person she knew at a home located on State Route 22 in Amenia. The alleged assault occurred in the presence of a child, officials say.

Following and investigation, 23-year-old Adam T. Cottell, of Amenia was arrested. He was charged with 1st-degree criminal sex act, 1st-degree aggravated sexual abuse, both class B felonies, and 1 count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Cottell was arraigned in the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
