Bomb Threats Made Against 18 New York Jewish Centers
Multiple threats have been made against Jewish community centers throughout New York State recently.
The Democrat and Chronicle reports that on Sunday, February 23, 2020, bomb threats had been made against 18 Jewish community centers in New York State. The threats were emailed to members of the Jewish community centers. A spokesperson for Governor Andrew Cuomo said that it's believed the threats are part of a large series of threats made nationally against Jewish community centers.
According to the Democrat and Chronicle, the threats were emails to separate individuals but it is unclear if the specific individual was being targeted. In Albany, the Jewish community center was evacuated by over 100 people. No bomb was found but the center remained closed. Governor Cuomo arrived on the scene after the threat was reported.
Roughly 42 antisemitic incidents have been reported in New York State recently, according to the Democrat and Chronicle.
