A major development coming to the Town of Poughkeepsie has broken ground and construction will soon be underway. Eastdale Village will add a mix of housing a retail to both sides of Route 44 corridor three miles southwest of Pleasant Valley.

According to a press release, the project will see the construction of 390 residential units and around 120,000 square feet of retail space over a five year period. The development will include a walkable town center with around 20 acres of parkland.

Approximately 300 construction jobs will be created over the life of the project with another 300 jobs in retail, dining, and office related business possible. Other benefits include up to $35 million in tax and PILOT payments, with $20 million for the Arlington Central School District, $6 million for the Town of Poughkeepsie and $2.4 million for Dutchess County.

The $90 million project is a partnership between Kirchoff Properties entrepreneur Christopher Dyson and David Silver. Joseph Kirchhoff had this to say about the job, 'we are literally creating a new village that will become a walkable community where people can live, work, shop and play'.
