Monticello Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that took place within 10 hours of each other on Friday, June 19. The incidents left one man injured and a vehicle blistered with bullets.

A 22-year-old Monticello man sustained gunshot wounds to the hand and leg around 1:45 p.m. in the area of Forestburgh Road and West Broadway, police said. The victim sought assistance by going into a business on Forestburgh Road to report being shot and was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris by a private vehicle before police arrived on scene.

Later on Friday night, around 11 p.m., police were called to the area of Dollard Drive and Harmony Lane for a report of a 19-year-old Monticello man being shot at while driving a vehicle, police said. The incident took place near the Horizons and Fairground Estates Apartment Complexes, and the vehicle was struck several times, police said. The driver did not sustain any injuries, but errant bullets also hit a building at the Fairground Estates, authorities reported.

The vehicle operator in that incident did not cooperate with officers, authorities said. Police are unsure if the two incidents on the same day are related, but are asking for the public’s assistance with any and all information.
