$10K Reward for Information on Murder of Justin Speights
The Silver Lake Fire District is offering a reward following the death of a volunteer 20-year-old firefighter.
Justin Speights was stabbed and killed while he apparently tried to break up a fight at a house party in the Town of Crawford in the early hours of New Years Day. Police are ruling the death a homicide. No arrests have been made.
Speights was a 2014 Pine Bush High School graduate and a volunteer firefighter for the past four years at the Silver Lake Fire District. The Silver Lake Fire District posted on their Facebook page, they are offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the murder. Anyone with information is asked to call New York State Police in Middletown at 845-344-5300.
“As a member of the Silver Lake Fire District for 4 years, Justin was a hardworking and dedicated young man who would always be willing to help out his community and his fellow firefighters,” Silver Lake Fire Company Public Information Officer Jeff Jaques wrote in the department’s Facebook posting.
State Police are continuing to talk to people who attended the party. Police say there were about 100 people at the party at the time of the murder. State Police are also asking for anyone with information to please call.
