New York State Police need the public's help in the investigation of the New Year's Day murder of 20-year-old Justin Speights.

About 100 people attended a house party in which Speights, a Wallkill resident, was stabbed to death on Paddock Drive in the Town of Crawford.

The New York State Police are asking anyone who attended the party to contact the Middletown barracks at (845) 344-5300.

Speights was a 2014 graduate of Pine Bush High School and a volunteer firefighter.

"As a member of the Silver Lake Fire District for 4 years, Justin was a hardworking and dedicated young man who would always be willing to help out his community and his fellow firefighters," Silver Lake Fire Company Public Information Officer Jeff Jaques wrote on the department's Facebook page.
