Police are investigating and hoping for the public's help following a car accident in Ulster County that killed a teenager.

According to State Police, a grey 2000 Honda Civic traveling west, driven by 16-year-old Damein Kovacs, left the roadway and hit a utility pole on the eastern shoulder near the intersection of State Route 28 and Dubois Road in the Town of Olive.

Kovacs succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An 8-year-old passenger was treated at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston for minor injuries and released.

State Police are requesting anyone with information regarding this accident to contact them at (845) 338-1702.

State Police were assisted on the scene by the Town of Olive Fire Department, the Town of Olive First Aid, Mobil Life, Town of Olive Police Department, West Hurley Fire Department, Ulster County Sheriff's Office and NYC DEP.
