An Ulster County man was charged with endangering the welfare of two children after police say he encouraged and allowed a fight to occur.

The New York State Police Highland BCI charged 43-year-old, John Ayala Jr, of Highland with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

On Sunday, State Police arrived to a 911 call for a fight in progress at Tony Williams Park, in the Town of Lloyd. Upon arrival investigators say the learned that two 16-year-olds engaged in a fist fight.

Police allege that Ayala was present during the fight, actively permitted his own child to partake in the fight, and attempted to discourage others from calling 911.

Ayala was arraigned in the Town of Esopus Court and released on his own recognizance. Ayala is due back in the Town of Lloyd Court on another date.
