Poughkeepsie Galleria Announces New GAP Factory Location

Growing up in the early 2000s, one of my favorite stops in the Poughkeepsie Galleria was a stop at The GAP.

Remember those iconic GAP sweatshirts? Everyone had one. I digress.

Needless to say, I (and many others) were heartbroken when The GAP closed their doors inside the Poughkeepsie Galleria. However, it looks like our hearts will be mended in the future.

The Poughkeepsie Galleria took to social media to share that a GAP Factory location would be opening this upcoming fall:

It looks like the new GAP Factory will open upstairs where, I believe the old Forever 21 used to be.

The sign states GAP Factory will open in Fall of 2026. We'll make sure to update this story with more details on an exact date.

What's The Difference Between The GAP and GAP Factory?

I know I can't be the only one who thought about it. What's the difference between The GAP and a GAP Factory location?

It must get asked a lot because there's a who section on The GAP Factory website explaining. They write:

Is Gap Factory the same as Gap?

Our in-house design team creates an exclusive line of casual-chic styles available only at Factory.

GAP Factory stresses that they do not sell " Gap overstock, last season's trends, or flawed product." Adding:

You'll get everything you love about the Gap brand at a value you'll love even more.

New Sporting Goods Center Coming to the Poughkeepsie Galleria

While the new GAP Factory at the Poughkeepsie Galleria will open quickly, another new store is getting ready to open their doors.

But this one may take a little longer.

Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sports is set to open in the Poughkeepsie Galleria in 2029! From the video that the Galleria shared, it looks like House of Sports will open under Bounce.

So, what's the difference between Dick's Sporting Goods and Dick's House of Sports? The website RetailDive.com explains that the House of Sports locations are designed to be interactive.

Customers can test out equipment, they have turf fields, cages for baseball, softball and lacrosse, rock climbing wall and more.

The website also explains that the House of Sports locations range in size from 100,000 to 150,000 square feet, which doubles the size of a standard Dick's Sporting Goods.
