Police: Saugerties Woman Purposely Drove Car Into Another Car
A Saugerties woman is accused of purposely driving her car into another woman's car without wearing a seatbelt. Buckle up for safety before you (allegedly) go on your bumper car-inspired vendetta, people.
On Friday, Saugerties police responded to a complaint of an unwanted woman at a home on Second Street.
As Saugerties police arrived on scene, officers said they witnessed 44-year-old Lauren L. Arastiqueti of Saugerties intentionally drive her car into the complainant’s car, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Arastiqueti was taken into custody at the scene and processed at Saugerties Police Headquarters. She was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and failure to wear seatbelt and failure to keep right of way, traffic tickets.
Arastiqueti was arraigned in the Village of Saugerties Justice Court and was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. An order of protection was issued for the complaint.
