Police: Hudson Valley Woman Steals Items From Home Depot, Returns Them
A Hudson Valley woman is accused of stealing several items from Home Depot and then attempting to return the stolen items.
Recently members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a larceny at the Home Depot store located at 80 Independent Way in the Town of Southeast.
A store detective told police that he saw a female customer take several items of merchandise, place them in a bag and then proceed to make a return transaction as if she were returning merchandise that was previously purchased.
After completing the return the woman is accused of heading to a self-check- out register to try and hide another item of merchandise without paying for it.
Based on the store employee’s complaints, 38-year-old Heather G. Licari of Patterson was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. She was booked at the Sheriff’s Office and released on her own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
If found guilty of the class A misdemeanor charge, the Licari faces up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000.
