Police say a Hudson Valley man’s “joy ride” on a stolen boat ended with thousands of dollars worth of damage to the boat.

Stony Point Police arrested 24-year-old Eladio Torres, of Nanuet after an investigation into a stolen boat. Torres was charged with criminal mischief, petit larceny, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police allege that Torres took a 2006 Bayliner boat from the Minisceongo Yacht Club for a ride without the owner’s consent. Authorities say the boat suffered around $3,000 worth of damage to the right hull.

Torres was arraigned at Stony Point Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail. He is scheduled to return back to court on June 2.
