A Dutchess County man is accused of forcing his way into a female friend’s home and threatening to kill her.

On Sunday, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested 36-year-old Adrien G. Cadwallader of Stanford for burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, menacing and criminal mischief, misdemeanors.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, troopers were sent by Columbia County 911 to investigate a possible criminal mischief complaint that occurred on Route 9 in Livingston.

Arriving officers talked with a woman who said that Cadwallader, an acquaintance, forced his way into her home and threatened to kill her with a utility knife before fleeing the scene.

Cadwallader was taken into custody by troopers from Poughkeepsie after they executed a traffic stop on his vehicle on Hunns Lake Road in Stanfordvillle.

Cadwallader was arraigned in the Town of Livingston Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to Livingston Court on March 23.
