
Police: Drunk, Texting Tow-Truck Driver Injures Pregnant Hudson Valley Woman In Head-On Crash
A texting tow-truck driver injured a pregnant Hudson Valley woman in an alleged drunken head-on crash.
Around 4:00 a.m. Monday, Ramapo Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 17, just south of Seven Lakes Drive in the Village of Sloatsburg.
A 34-year-old from Tuxedo was allegedly drunk and texting while driving a tow-truck south on Route 17 when he crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a taxi.
The driver of the taxi, a 44-year-old New Jersey man and the passenger, a 42-year-old pregnant woman from Monroe, were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Tuxedo tow-truck driver was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated dwi, two-counts of assault, reckless endangerment and several vehicle and traffic tickets.
The unnamed man was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $2,500 bail.
