Percival A.T. Schokman, a Hopewell Junction Resident, Dies at 92
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Percival A.T. Schokman, 92, an area resident for 7 years and formerly of Ossining, died peacefully on July 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Columbo, Sri Lanka on May 14, 1925, he was the son of Hubert Charles and Iris Bartholomeusz Schokman. Percival was employed as an engineer with George Hantscho Company in Mount Vernon. A man of all trades who could fix absolutely everything, he especially enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
On September 26, 1953 in Columbo, Sri Lanka, Percival married Cynthia Ondatje who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Janine and Ron Iarossi of Hopewell Junction, Jeremy and Kim Schokman of Craryville, Monique and Joe Diano of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Jaclyn Iarossi and wife Meredith McKoy, Andrea Zolotas and husband Scott, Marisa Diano and fiancé Anthony Eilers, Jessica Schokman, Joseph Diano and Michael Diano; his great-grandchildren, Reese Zolotas, Beau Zolotas, Killian McKoy Iarossi, Finn McKoy Iarossi, and Wes Zolotas; his siblings, Charlie Schokman, Grace Van Houten, Sylvia Ephramus, Louise Hannibaltz, Audrey Googerantne, Valerie Werrakone and Hilda Muller and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 24th, from 10-11am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 850 Wolcott Avenue, Beacon followed by the funeral service at 11am. Private interment will be in the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery.
