Most Hudson Valley counties are losing residents. According to new data released on Friday by the U.S. Census Bureau, almost every county in the Mid-Hudson Valley saw a decrease in population from 2010 to 2018.

Ulster County saw the most residents leave, down from 182,493 in 2010 to 178,599 on July 1, 2018. Dutchess County also saw nearly 4,000 residents move, down from 297,448 in 2010 to 293,718 in 2018, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Over 2,000 people left Sullivan County(77,547 to 75,498) while nearly 1,000 residents moved from Putnam County (99,710 to 98,892).

Only Orange County saw an increase in population over the past eight years, going from 372,813 to 381,951.

Overall, the United States saw an increase of over 6 percent in the population. Nationwide, counties with the largest growth are all in the western and southern parts of the country, with counties in Texas claiming four of the top 10 spots for growth, according to new U.S. Census Bureau.
