New York Man Hid 19 Bags of Cocaine Near Groin in Orange County

An Orange County man faces at least six years in prison after police found him hiding 19 bags of cocaine near his groin.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Monday 46-year-old Cory Williams of Middletown was convicted following a jury trial in the Orange County Court of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Williams faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison when he is sentenced on February 10, 2022.

By law, Williams must be sentenced to at least six years in state prison. Williams was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury’s verdict.

On December 18, 2019, the City of Middletown Police Department, aided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Special Operations Group and the New York State Police, executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence on Little Monhagen Road, in the City of Middletown.

The police also had a warrant to search the defendant’s vehicle as well as the defendant’s person. Williams was apprehended in the car at approximately 6:11 AM.

A total of 19 individually packaged bags of cocaine were recovered from the defendant’s groin area and from between the defendant’s buttocks

“The COVID pandemic may have slowed the pace at which some cases proceed through the criminal justice system, but this case demonstrates the District Attorney’s Office’s ongoing commitment to work with our law enforcement partners to stop drug dealers who attempt to profit off of the addiction of others,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “ I thank the City of Middletown Police Department for their actions on this case, and their diligence in fighting the narcotics epidemic which is harming so many of our residents.”
