A drug bust in Port Jervis led to the arrest of Sheldon Cooper and a female living at the same address. Police also recovered an assortment of drugs.

On Saturday, Port Jervis City Police Officers and members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Group executed a “No-Knock” Port Jervis City Court ordered search warrant upon an apartment located at 36 Church Street, Port Jervis.

Police say they recovered a large amount of money, 22 grams of crack and powder cocaine, 3 grams of heroin, a scale, and packaging materials.

Sheldon Cooper, 30, of the same address, was charged with 3 counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 2nd-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Timeasha Smedley, 20, also of the same address was charged 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. She was released on her own recognizance to appear in Port Jervis City Court at a later date.

Cooper was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail pending further court proceedings.

The arrests were based upon a several month undercover investigation into the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine in the City of Port Jervis and Tri-State region.
