Minnesota Man Accused of Stabbing Hudson Valley Man in Face

A man from Minnesota is accused of traveling to the local area and stabbing a Hudson Valley man in the face.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Monticello police responded to a report of a fight in progress near the intersection of Broadway and Pelton Street in the Village of Monticello.

Arriving officers found a 21 year-old Monticello man lying on a sidewalk and bleeding heavily from a cut to his face.

The victim was stabbed in the face by 25-year-old Brian Padin of Minnesota, police say. Video surveillance from a nearby Broadway business helped police name Padin as the stabbing suspect.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and later Westchester Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Padin was allegedly found in possession of cocaine and hydrocodone and is accused of not cooperating with officers during processing at the Monticello Police Station.

Padin was charged with two-counts assault, a felony, criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing governmental administration and three-counts of criminal possession of controlled substance, all misdemeanors.

Padin was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $50,000 bail pending further court action.
