
Hudson Valley Woman Accused of Drunk Fatal Hit-And-Run
A Hudson Valley woman is accused of backing up and fatally hitting a woman in the parking lot of a Family Dollar. The woman was allegedly driving drunk and fled the scene.
On Monday, State Police from Livingston responded to a Columbia County 911 call for a reported serious injury hit and run accident on Main Street in the Village of Philmont.
The driver, 24-year-old Jennifer McGrath-Jennings of Philmont, is accused of fleeing the scene after the accident.
Jennings allegedly hit a woman while backing up her car in the parking lot of Family Dollar. The unnamed victim was taken to Albany Medical Center where she died from her injuries, police say.
After Jennings was found she was charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, felonies, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, misdemeanors, and a violation for unsafe backing.
State Police is continuing the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information should call 518-851-2982.
