A man died Monday in the Hudson Valley of bacterial meningitis.

According to the Rockland County Department of Health, an unnamed man from Argentina was visiting family in Rockland County for the holidays when he became ill. The man started feeling sick Monday morning and was rushed to Nyack Hospital where he later died of bacterial meningitis.

The Health Department identified people who had direct contact with the patient. They were prescribed a course of post-exposure antibiotics.

Officials say there are no additional community contacts or exposures of concern in the Hudson Valley.

There is no risk of further spread of meningitis.
