John Bennett Farrell, a Longtime Orange County Resident, Dies at 75
John Bennett Farrell, a longtime resident of Orange County, passed away peacefully on Friday December 22, 2017 at Elant at Meadow Hill, in the Town of Newburgh. He was 75 years old.
The son of the late Edward Farrell and Virginia (Jorn) Farrell, he was born December 20, 1942 in Brooklyn NY. He later attended and graduated from Siena College and Albany School of Law.
John proudly served his country in the US Army where he was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Captain. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Three Overseas Service Medals or Bars, and the Bronze Star Medal.
After his time in the service he called upon his education and began practicing law. He eventually set up a private practice in Monroe, NY where he lived and raised his family.
Survivors include his former wife, Patricia Farrell of New Windsor; his daughter, Lauren Van Housen and her husband, Karl of Newburgh; his son, John Bennett Farrell Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; his brother, Edward Farrell Jr. of Berlin, NJ; his granddaughter, Teagan Van Housen; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his twin brother, Thomas Farrell and his sister, Monica Paul.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:30pm at White, Venuto, and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY 12550. Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home following the visitation at 7:30pm.
Cremation will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
