"The Cake Box evolved from a small bakery into a full-service eatery with sandwiches, soups and salads available alongside those famous cakes, cookies and pastries."

WPDH also shared that at that time, the Cake Box was for sale for $595,000.

In March 2024, WPDH shared more news about the Cake Box in Kingston, NY. This business explained that they would be closing. The Cake Box closed in March 2024, the owner retired after 60 years.

Pinkerton's Bakery will open in the former Cake Box location in Kingston, NY. On their Instagram account, they mentioned that they moved from San Francisco Bay, CA to Kingston, NY. James Beard and Angela Pinkerton are Pinkerton's Bakery. Their former bakery, Pie Society HQ is also mentioned on Pinkerton's Bakery Instagram account account as well which was their business in CA. On Pie Society HQ's Instagram post, they mentioned, 

"I am honored to be the next caretaker of this totally rad space, a neighborhood art deco gem built in 1920. Originally, a GULF oil and service station, it was revamped as a bagel shop in the late 90’s, and then became the Cake Box bakery in 2001"

They continued to share,

"It’s been going strong until just a month ago, and I am so excited to continue its baking legacy, as well as restore the building’s original charming exterior detail."
