At the stroke of midnight, the calendar flipped to November 1st and we forgot all about the spooky season and dove right into Christmas festivities. Well at least some of us did.

Rockefeller Center Kicks off The Holiday Season on November 1st

On Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, Rockefeller Center got to work on stirring up the holiday spirit. Rightfully so, they are the Christmas capital of the world if you think about it. People travel from near and far to see the lights, ice skating rink, and of course the ginormous Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center during the holiday season.

With that being said, Rock Center shared the good news that the 2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been picked! This year the tree will be coming from...drum roll, please...Vestal, New York in Broome County.

2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Picked in New York State

Rockefeller Center writes:

Meet the 2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
This year’s Tree is from Vestal, New York, weighs in at about 12 tons, and stands 80 feet tall. The Tree will arrive on Center Plaza Saturday, November 11. Follow along for more updates right here.

Imagine her all dolled up in over 40,000 LED Christmas lights and topped with a huge Swarovski crystal star.

Keep your eyes peeled while on the Thruway or major highways as you may catch a glimpse of the tree before it makes its way down to New York City's Rockefeller Center.

Hudson Valley Rockefeller Center Trees

It's not uncommon for the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to come from New York. The tree has come from the Hudson Valley in years past. According to Wikipedia, 16 of the Rockefeller Center Trees have come from the Hudson Valley.

2019 was the last year a Hudson Valley tree was chosen for the Big Show down in New York City. The 2019 tree was picked from Florida, New York and the year before that in 2018 a tree was chopped down for Rockefeller Center in Gardiner, New York.

The oldest Hudson Valley Rockefeller Center tree dates back to 1940 when it was picked in Hyde Park, New York.
